Xinbei-PetroChina Opens a New Era of Domestic Ethylene Technology
CNPC News (Reporter Li Danwang Qiaoran) September 23, the group company "large-scale ethylene plant industrialization technology development" major scientific and technological acceptance evaluation meeting was held in Beijing. Reporters learned that China Petroleum has successfully developed large-scale ethylene process technology with independent intellectual property rights, and successfully applied in Daqing Petrochemical's 1.2 million tons of ethylene reconstruction and expansion project, ending the long-term history of domestic ethylene technology relying on imports.
Shen Diancheng, deputy general manager and member of the Party Group, attended the meeting. He stressed that the successful localization of ethylene technology should be taken as an opportunity to accelerate the pace of independent technology research and development and application, and make greater contributions to win the battle for China's petroleum refining and chemical industry.
Since the establishment of the major scientific and technological project of "Industrial Complete Technology Development of Large-scale Ethylene Plant" in 2008, the Global Engineering Company, Daqing Petrochemical Company, Petrochemical Research Institute and Tsinghua University have jointly tackled key problems and developed a complete set of technology for large-scale Ethylene Plant, breaking the monopoly of foreign patentees in the field of ethylene, and filling the gaps in China with a number of core technologies. Daqing Petrochemical's 1.2 million tons of ethylene rebuilding and expansion project started successfully in October 2012, and passed the 72-hour full-load performance evaluation in 2013. Up to now, the unit has been running smoothly for nearly two years. The technical indexes of diene yield, comprehensive energy consumption and thermal efficiency of cracking furnace have reached the advanced international level.
The project also realized breakthroughs in calculation and engineering design of domestic large-scale ethylene cracking furnaces and industrial application of supporting series catalysts, and developed the first domestic cracking product prediction software. PetroChina has become the first successful enterprise to develop and apply the ethylene complete set technology independently in China, and also the largest ethylene cracking furnace in China, making China the fourth country with the ethylene complete set technology in the world.
Shen Diancheng pointed out that after five years of joint tackling key problems, the major scientific and technological projects of large ethylene were successfully completed, and an important breakthrough in overcoming key technical bottlenecks in downstream refining and chemical industry was realized, which indicated that China had fully mastered large ethylene technology with independent intellectual property rights. He emphasized that we should summarize the experience of major scientific and technological projects of big ethylene in an all-round way, and lay a solid foundation for the development of the million-ton ethylene industrial complete sets of technology at the international leading level. The next step is to accelerate the pace of independent technology research and development and application, provide technical support for turning losses and increasing profits in refining and chemical industry, and make further contributions to the improvement and upgrading of chemical industry.
Sun Longde, Vice President of PetroChina, pointed out that we should make good use of the trinity of scientific research, design and production of major scientific and technological projects to tackle key technological problems, greatly enhance the technological level, independent innovation ability and core competitiveness of the company in the field of refining and chemical industry, and play an important role in scientific and technological efficiency and structural adjustment. Wang Shihong, assistant general manager of the group company, said that the key bottleneck technology research and development should be strengthened, the engineering ability should be enhanced, and the international competitiveness of engineering construction business should be promoted by the achievements of scientific and technological innovation.
